Dance dance revolution is a bemani(japanese music type) game that involves the movement of your feet and legs along to the music

The game:

This picture is of gameplay.  The row of arrows at the top of the screen is where the arrows that are floating up will scroll to. when the top arrows and the floating arrows are aligned, you will hit the corosponding arrow on the DDR pad.

The pad:

This is a picture of the 2 pads at an arcade machine.  notice how the arrows ar pointing in different directions. they corospond with the arrows on the screen.  in the picture above. there are 6 arrows and not 4. that gameplay shot was taken from the solo form of the game, adding 2 arrows in the top cornwers of the pad on each side.

The styles: There are 2 main styles in playing this game.

PA: (perfect attack)  This is the normal style of gameplay.  its baisicly where you hit the arrows at the right time. they call it perfect attack because the player generally tries to get as many perfect arrows(arrows hit at The exact right time.)

Free-style: this is the type of game where you might have seen players do routines on the pad, routines that have spines slides and all kinds of stuff. this is where you encorperate real dance moves into the hitting of the arrows.  you can also set up this with a partner and do some very good routines.

The rest: its all up to you on how good you get. if you want to be really good. be prepared to spend a lot of time practicing. and also be sure to have lots of determination. this came in handy for me.

If you think you won't be able to play because of weight/ being out of shape or any physical excersion, give it a try. i was 300 lbs when i started playing and i was able to get very good at this game. almost good enough to beat MAX 300.
