Warrior Monsters

I bought this game
to play when I went on holiday to France.
Having exhausted all my current games I
thought I'd treat myself to a good RPG
that would last. After my initial playing
I liked what I saw. Although the
storyline seems to be made up by a 4 year
old with too much time you quickly negate
that as you get engrossed in the game
itself.
Being serious who
in their right mind would think that this
storyline is good. A dark fluffy thing
jumps out of your draw, grabs your
sister, and leaps back in with her, now a
light fluffy thing comes through, talks
to you and takes you in. You find
yourself in the kingdom of the great
tree. Here you have to get the best of
the best to compete in the starry night
tournement and win, therefor getting your
wish to be re-united with your sister and
sent back to your world. Now come on.
But the game really
shines on it's monsters. Drawen by the
great anime master Toriyama Akira, the
person responsible for Dragon Warrior and
Dragon Quest, Dragonball Z, DR Slump and
the masterpiece Akira, they look great
and have a real good feel about them.
This game has scores of originality and
the breeding option really is great. You
can spend ages breeding after breeding
just to see what you get.
To progress you
must go into randomly generated mystic
worlds and beat the boss of that world,
sometimes the boss goes with you
sometimes he doesnt, these worlds is also
where the monsters are. To catch a
monster you feed it meat at the same time
as you attack it, then you cross your
fingers. These worlds are almost maze
like and although repetitive you still
for some reason go back for more.
As for longitivity
( I think I just invented a new word ) it
certainly has that, It takes months to
complete the game and I doubt you'll have
all the monsters when you do. The hardets
monster of all, Dark Drium, is something
like 10 levels worth of breeding.
Overall : This game
is a great RPG and pokemon style game,
with a more RPGish feel to it than
pokemon it really is a good game, the
monsters designs are great although the
in game sprytes aren't great, on a
Gameboy Color the only color worth
mentioning is that of the monsters. Some
tunes are catchy although some are just
annoying.
In general a good
game : 91%
