    One of the Best Sailing

Bob Rioux - Hilo, HIsailor@gte.net

Am faxing line drawing of the 30. It was the cover page on a survey done in 85 just before we got her.  Her name at that time was Crackers.   She was purchased by a Howard Green in New Castle, NH, who named her Westwind.  We purchased her  from Howard in 87 and named her Mistress.  She was built in 1973 and was  hull # 91.  Her LOA was 29' 11-3/4".  Her New England PHRF Handicap was 174.  Your boat  being one of the later ones was rated 168.   When Howard had the survey done the boat was at the Cliton Harbor Marina,  Cliton CT.  Howard moved her to Portsmouth NH and moved her between NH & Maine. We kept her on a mooring at Portsmouth on the Maine side.  Email your mailing address and I'll sent a picture of her on the mooring to you.  We sold her to a young fellow in the Coast Guard who moved her to New York City.  The last I heard he had been transferred to Mass. and she was on a  mooring at Marblehead Mass.

Steve, I have sailed on a few boats in my day but that Yankee was one of the  best sailing I have ever been on.  We had her out one day when the wind  picked up to 45 knots.  We were out about 15 miles and had to beat back .  Put 2 reefs in the main and a storm jib up and the rail in the water and she just headed for home like a race horse.

The Yankee 38 is another fine  boat and you don't see them for sale to offend.  I'll keep looking for anything else I may have on the 30 & 38.    Wishing you fair winds.
