Message:
I am researching the life of James Robertson Justice, the bearded British actor from the 50s and 60s. During the War he was present in Wigtown and frequented the officers' mess at Baldoon airfield. Does anyone have any memories of him? Apparently, he was in the Navy, so what was he doing at an RAF airfield?

My wife and I are book dealers and have lived in Wigtown for over 5 years. We live a few door down from the house in which James Robertson Justice lived. If you would like we can make inquiries locally for you.

We have another reason for replying to your inquiry as we are holding a Military/History Weekend in Wigtown 2nd to 4th May 2003 and we are trying to find what interesting stories occured around Wigtown during the war.

As you may know Wigtown is Scotland's National Book Town and the dealers arrange functions for the local people.
