Subject: Stalags XXB and VIIIB IP: Logged
Message: I would like to hear from anyone who knew my father Stanley Collins when he was in Stalag XXB or stalag VIIIB. he was a gunner with the Surrey Yeomanry. I have some photos of him with the camp orchestra and with the Main Camp London Group. He was a prisoner from May 1940 to the end of the war, but I don't know when and for how long he was in Stalag XXB and in Stalag VIIIB. I know that he escaped with 2 other, Lowe and Robertson - the three of them made a run for it in Bodenkirchen, in Lower Bavaria when they were being marched out of Poland as the German's retreated. They were helped by a Dr. Gruber (I have a copy of a letter sent to the Allied Screening Commission in Austria)until the Americans arrived and liberated them. I also have a copy of a camp theatre programme for a performance in July 1943 at Stalag XXB. Names include:
