I would like to hear from anyone who knew my father Stanley Collins when he was in Stalag XXB or stalag VIIIB. he was a gunner with the Surrey Yeomanry. I have some photos of him with the camp orchestra and with the Main Camp London Group. He was a prisoner from May 1940 to the end of the war, but I don't know when and for how long he was in Stalag XXB and in Stalag VIIIB. I know that he escaped with 2 other, Lowe and Robertson - the three of them made a run for it in Bodenkirchen, in Lower Bavaria when they were being marched out of Poland as the German's retreated. They were helped by a Dr. Gruber (I have a copy of a letter sent to the Allied Screening Commission in Austria)until the Americans arrived and liberated them. I also have a copy of a camp theatre programme for a performance in July 1943 at Stalag XXB. Names include:
Maxie Spencer, Herbert A. Lee, Commodore R.J.Green (musical director), Ronald Feldwick, Sid Page, Buster Taylor (guitarist), Denis Potton, Jimmy D. Richens (pianist), Dixie Shailer (trumpet), M. (Taffy) Evans (bass), Willie Cowie (saxaphone), Joe Yeates (saxaphone), "Sticks" Randall (drums), Wilf Lavers (vocal), David Phillips, Alfred J.
