Tradition expects a white Xmas to make the day complete. This means a picturesque covering of crisp white snow, the enjoyment of ice skating and toboggans,
scenic icicles on roofs and fun with snowmen.
Except that in the UK the third-world rail
and road systems are paralysed by the first snowflake, plunging all attempts to travel into
chaos.
And in Thule, Greenland they have a dark Xmas because the sun doesn't rise between
October and March. But they do have giant blizzards and fearsome windchill, so that's
OK.
