Fussy Britons dislike two of the average eighteen Xmas gifts they get according to a survey. Pundits claim this adds up to 95 million unwanted gifts at a cost of £2 billion, giving an average value of £20 wasted per gift. Not surprisingly the younger generation are hardest to please, (the ungrateful pampered brats). The survey excluded all those under 15 years old so the true levels of dissatisfaction are unquantified. If the figures for unwanted gifts are true then just think of the amount wasted globally!
Men are also allegedly more fussy, being unhappy with 13% of their gifts, compared to women disliking only 9% of the gifts they receive. The jury is still out on whether this means that men choose gifts more carefully for women (unlikely) or that women are less spoilt and fussy than men (also unlikely).
The survey found that 63% of Brits hoard unwanted gifts at home because they haven't got around to throwing them out or finding another victim to pass them on to.
The raw figures on Gifts, (which seem suspiciously high), are:

But let's not get too wound up by this. It's really a kind of trivial problem because you can always take unwanted gifts to charity shops.
The survey claims that the average Brit now owns 103 CD's, 202 books, 70 toys and games, 60 videos and 17 computer games which is probably why there are so many unwanted Xmas gifts - people have already got everything! Maybe I'm mixing in the wrong circles but people I know have nothing like this amount of stuff so some Brit houses must be piled to the ceiling with gear. Maybe only the idle rich had time to complete the survey...
