A reunion is being planned in New South Wales for Easter 2004 for the descendants of Edmund and Ellen (nee ROURKE) DWYER of Cashel, Tipperary, and of their children:
Jeremiah, born about 1820, and Ellen BURKE;
Bridget, born 1822, and James ENGLISH;
Oliver, born 1829, and Margaret BOHAN;
Mary, born 1838;
and also possibly
James, birthdate unknown;
Thomas, born 1834;
Patrick, born 1837,all of whom immigrated to Australia;
and anyone else who can connect to the above family.
The reunion will take place at Riley's Hill on the Richmond River, northern NSW, on the DWYER farm occupied by descendants of Oliver and Margaret.

I thought some of you might be interested to know about this. I recently found a very old recording my father made with his brothers and mother back in early 1970's. It was one of those magnetic tape "Voice Letters" that people used to send messages to one another instead of writing letters. Well no one knew what happed to the recording machine to play this tape so I found this chap Scott Thomas from Play It Again who has a good little business restoring old audio tapes etc. He was able to get the complete conversation on to a CD even though some of the tape was broken - he repaired it and I was able to hear my Grandmother speaking more than 30 years ago. This is a great way of preserving your family's history!.You can email him on:

The 5th Victorian Family History State Conference "Settlers in the sun" will be held at St Joseph's College, 12th Street, Mildura on 16-18 April 2004. Hosted by Mildura & District Genealogical Society it will be two days of informative up to date genealogical information covering a wide choice of topics, presented in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The conference keynote speaker is Jan Gow, one of New Zealand's most experienced professional genealogists. Pre-conference workshops will be conducted on Friday 16th April.
