31/05/2001 Entry: "PROJECT: Photographers relations sought"

From Newsgroups Posting:

I am wanting to contact from any relations of early Professional Photographers, English, Scottish, Welsh, Australian & New Zealand .... Any Professional photographers from 1840 to 1940 (Amateur Photographers only till 1880)

Of the 70,000 + Photographers so far in my data base, I only know what the Initials stood for, of less than 30% ... and this leads to great problems when sons (and other relations) with the same initials took over the business... etc.

As I seek to add biographical information to my Photographers Biography data base also, which will help in sorting out problems in data from other sources. (William - Bill problems etc.)

I am always looking for interesting data about photographers businesses, and even "funny" photographers stories.. (I had a Brides father drop stone dead at the alter after handing over his daughter to the groom !!)

I am also seeking Photographs of Photographers, and especially looking for photos showing early Photographic studios. (the later for advertising details, and the former because often in landscape photos, some photographers and their assistants show up as human Props in their own photos)

I also offer to help date CDV photographs (not London or Manchester), but am also looking for information on all Welsh and Scottish country CDV's...
