Typhon vs. Orthros vs. Phantom Train vs. Death Gaze
These 4 Soul of Chaos bosses come from Final Fantasy 6, for the SNES. You may be more familiar with their translated names from the SNES "FF3": Chupon, Ultros, Ghost Train, and Doom Gaze.
Gilgamesh vs. Atomos vs. Omega vs. Shinryu
These 4 Soul of Chaos bosses come from Final Fantasy 5, for the Super Famicom (Japanese SNES), which was eventually seen outside of Japan as part of Final Fantasy Anthology.
- Gilgamesh comes from The Epic of Gilgamesh. He was a Sumerian king who was supposed to be part god.
- You know what? I don't know what the heck Atomos is supposed to be. Atomos returns was also a summon in FF9.
- Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet. It's often used to mean final or ultimate. Bosses named Omega & Omega Weapon can be found in later games.
- Shinryu means "God Dragon" in Japanese. That's about it, I guess.
Scarmiglione vs. Cagnazzo vs. Barbariccia vs. Rubicante
These 4 Soul of Chaos bosses come from Final Fantasy 4, for the SNES. They are originally from The Inferno, by Dante Alighieri. You may be more familiar with their translated names from the SNES "FF2": Milon [Z], Kainazzo, Valvalis, and Rubicant.
Echidna vs. Cerberus vs. Ahriman vs. 2-Headed Dragon
These 4 Soul of Chaos bosses come from Final Fantasy 3, for the Nintendo Famicom (Japanese NES).
- Echidna comes from Greek myth, a half-woman, half-snake creature. She was married to Typhon, and her children were some of the more well known monsters, such as Cerberus, Hydra, and Chimera.
- Cerberus, of course, is also from Greek myth. He was the 3-headed dog that guarded the entrance to the underworld.
- Ahriman is from Persian myth, where I believe he is basically the equivilent of the Devil.
- 2-Headed Dragon is just a 2-headed dragon. Woo.
