A hat on the bias in any chosen fabric...

E Wrap cast on 3 stitches. Increase 1 stitch at the beginning of every row until the edge measures the depth from the crown of the head you want, allowing plenty of 'roll'.

Continue increasing on one edge alternate rows but decrease on the other edge.

When the piece has reached the length needed to comfortably fit round the head, begin decreasing on both sides until 3 stitches remain.

Either cast off and gather one 'long' side as tightly as possible or measure 15-17cm. along the needle bed (without breaking yarn) gathering long side of fabric to fit the measurement, pull needles through, knit 1 row on low tension, transfer alternate stitches to next needle, remove empty needles from WP, reduce tension even further and knit 1 more row.   With transfer tool or needle, slip stitches onto a length of yarn, pull tight and finish off.   Sew 'short' ends together.
